GADGET Review

Logitech K750 Keyboard
The Logitech K750 keyboard is powered by light, even indoors. The keyboard charges itself whenever there’s light and stays charged for at least three months in total darkness. It’s not tied to your work desk either. With an advanced 2.4GHz long-range wireless connection, you can extend your workplace to many more places, like your couch. With few delays, dropouts and interference, we experienced seamless connectivity that made us more productive at work and off it. What’s even sweeter is that the setup took seconds. We just plugged into the PC’s USB port and typed away. Thin and therefore light, we loved the keyboard for the ease of use. However, while it is great for surfing, it was no good for rapid action gaming. But then again, it’s not really a gaming keyboard. The best part… it’s a wireless keyboard whose keys are quiet and comfortable and the installation was a breeze.

HTC Flyer
The all new HTC Flyer comes encased in an aluminium body. The Android 2.3 based tablet features a 7-inch Super LCD touch screen and a super fast 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor. It measures 7.68 inches long by 4.92 inches wide, 0.51 inch thick and weighs under a pound and is reader friendly and hand friendly. With a 1GB RAM and 32GB ROM, it’s pretty fast. The nifty tablet’s 5MP camera performed well both in daytime and night though the front-facing 1.3MP camera was bad at sun down. We loved the customer user interface, HTC Sense. It’s intuitive and thumb-friendly. The android keys were compatible with both landscape and portrait modes. But it’s the battery life that stunned us. We spent all day working it and it was still left with enough juice to power our smart phone through the night. And yes, we loved the split views in the browser, gallery and calendar apps built into the phone. Our only grouse… no HDMI port and bad video quality.

App Review

Nimbuzz
For all you cyber butterflies using a Nokia smartphone or iPhone, Nimbuzz makes things a little easier for you the next time you want to tweet, update your Facebook stauts, send an instant message or take a VOIP call. Nimbuzz rolls them all into one free app, with support for just about every different IM/SIP provider available. Nokia recently announced that downloads of Nimbuzz had passed one million, so they must be doing something right. One of the biggest secrets to its success is the well designed and intuitive interface, as well as some great features such as editable templates and the ability to add a cool widget to your Facebook profile, allowing your friends to contact you anywhere for free. This is another way of making cheap international calls to landlines and mobile phones anywhere in the world. And Nimbuzz has a free desktop app, too. The recently-added video calling and video chat feature is impressive and sometimes better than Skype and Fling.

Wordmobi
Wordmobi is a free app that helps update your blog anytime, anywhere with ease. If you are not using the Wordpress blog client, you need to start using Wordmobi for Nokia. Since the release of Ver5 earlier last year, there have been some grumbles about image uploads not working, so we’re hoping this was ironed out. Not only is the upload quick, you can also add tags, photos, videos and personalise. You can bold and italicise words. Another thing to remember if you download Wordmobi is that you will also need to download Python 2.0, the programming language needed for an increasing number of Symbian apps. One note of warning though. This is not an official Wordpress app. But most official apps pale in comparison to the unofficial ones, so you can rest easy.
